Wauseon man killed by train near Fulton St.

WAUSEON A Wauseon man was killed Thursday night after he was struck by a train just west of the Fulton Street railroad crossing.

Richard L. Shively Jr., 49, was pronounced dead by a Life- Flight physician at the scene. According to Wauseon police, Mr. Shively was crossing the tracks about 10:20 p.m. when he was struck by a westbound Norfolk & Southern train. Witnesses told police they had yelled at him to move.

Police Chief Keith Torbet said Mr. Shively was not standing on the tracks but was too close to them. Police are treating the case as an accident but are awaiting a full report from the Fulton County coroner.
