Bedford man who lay injured for 10 hours dies

A Bedford Township man who lay seriously injured for at least 10 hours near a Sylvania Township quarry until he was found Saturday by a fossil hunter died Tuesday in the Medical University of Ohio Medical Center, authorities said.

Mark Horton, 20, of 809 West Dean Rd., was pronounced dead in the afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Horton, who apparently was thrown from an all-terrain vehicle sometime Friday, was discovered about 9 a.m. near Sylvania and Centennial roads, about a mile south of Fossil Park, Sylvania Township police said.

Mr. Horton, who had multiple head injuries and was unable to talk, was flown to the hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition and later underwent surgery, police said.
