BOWLING GREEN - A Custar man was injured yesterday when his pickup collided head-on with a light truck on Poe Road that swerved to avoid a vehicle stopped on the roadway, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Randy E. Strow, 49, was in critical condition last night in Toledo Hospital.

Troopers at the Walbridge post said the accident occurred on Poe just west of Bowling Green near Tontogany Road at 2:46 p.m.

Jason L. Hiser, 20, of Grand Rapids, Ohio, was eastbound in a pickup on Poe when he drove left of center to go around a truck and trailer belonging to Morlock Asphalt of Portage, Ohio, which was stopped in the eastbound lane to load asphalt equipment.

Mr. Hiser's pickup collided with Mr. Strow's truck, which was westbound.

John S. Rarey, 58, of Bowling Green, also westbound on Poe, drove off the right side of the road to avoid the crash and struck a pole.

Mr. Hiser and Mr. Rarey were treated at Wood County Hospital. Mr. Hiser was cited for driving left of center. All drivers were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
