State Irish convention coming to area in '07

8/3/2005

The next state convention of the Ancient Order of Hibernians will be held at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg Township.

The convention will be in July, 2007, but the dates have not been set.

The decision to host the 2007 event in the Toledo area was made at the state convention in Youngstown last month. State conventions are held every two years.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians is a national organization that focuses on Irish culture, philanthropy, and issues related to the Catholic church.

Meghan Bookmiller, a local member who is helping prepare for the convention, said organizers anticipate 300 to 350 people will attend.
