4 large green peppers
1 cup boiling salted water
1 pound of ground beef
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1/2 cup coarse dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon chopped onion
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut a thin slice from the stem end of each pepper. Wash outside and inside, removing all seeds and membranes. Cook peppers standing up in boiling water for 5 minutes. Drain. Mix rest of ingredients. Stuff peppers lightly with mixture. Stand upright in deep baking dish. Bake covered 45 minutes; bake uncovered 15 minutes.
