PORT CLINTON The public may comment on three Sandusky Bay water projects at an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency hearing next week.

The information session and hearing are set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in Port Clinton City Council chambers, 1868 East Perry St. Ohio EPA representatives will provide data on these projects:

  • Kwest Development of Archbold proposes to build two 200-foot rubble-mound jetties and dredge about 12,000 cubic yards of material to construct a 740-foot entrance channel to Sandusky bay.

  • Kwest Development, as part of the jetty project, proposes to affect 2.36 acres of wetlands during construction of the boating access channel and wetland enhancement dykes.

  • Donald E. Nielson of Marblehead proposes to enlarge an existing stone breakwater to provide partially sheltered access to Sandusky Bay. The project is located at 7404 Bayshore Rd. in Ottawa County. Its dimensions would be 140 feet by 45 feet.

The proposed activities may result in a change in the bay s water quality conditions.
