Wood Co. meeting to look at Social Security policy

8/29/2005

BOWLING GREEN Wood County residents concerned about the possible privatization of Social Security are invited to a meeting tomorrow to draft a policy to be shared with the county s elected officials.

Mike Zickar, organizer of the convocation, said the meeting also will be an opportunity to launch the new Wood County Coalition to Protect Social Security. He said regular citizens deserve a voice in the ongoing debate over Social Security privatization.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1506 East Wooster St. It will open with an overview of the Social Security system and proposals to overhaul it through privatization. The group will then draft alternative policies, adopt one by majority vote, and determine what to do next.
