Toledo man hospitalized after hitting police car

FOSTORIA An accident between a police cruiser and a sport utility vehicle early yesterday sent a Toledo man to the hospital and left the officer with cuts and bruises.

The wreck occurred shortly after 4 a.m. at Countyline and Elm streets.

Fostoria police Capt. Jimmy Dieter was driving the police cruiser on County line Street with lights and siren on. David Rygalski, 53, who was driving a Chevrolet Blazer, did not see the cruiser, and tried to turn left from Elm Street. The Blazer turned over.

Mr. Rygalski was treated and released at Fostoria Community Hospital, a spokesman there said.

Further details were unavailable from the police. The wreck remains under investigation.
