Two teens perish when car leaves road, hits tree

LITCHFIELD, Mich. A pair of Litchfield, Mich., teenagers were killed Saturday night in a one-car crash in rural Hillsdale County.

Jared Maggard, 17, and his passenger, Richelle Moulton, 18, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 11:15 p.m. on Cronk Road north of Mosherville Road in Litchfield Township.

Hillsdale County sheriff s deputies said young Maggard was southbound on Cronk when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree.

Both teenagers, who were wearing seat belts, were pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
