Two men were hurt, one seriously after they were struck by a car as they were pushing a pickup to a gas station in East Toledo. The motorist was arrested and charged by police later.

Nichol Whitten, 25, of 237 Crawford Ave. was being held in the Lucas County jail yesterday on two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and one count of failure to stop after an accident. Ms. Whitten is scheduled to appear Monday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Jimal Sizemore, 28, of 5817 Dorr St. was in serious condition yesterday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Jeromy Caperton, 26, of 2128 Valentine St. was treated at St. Charles Mercy Hospital.

The men were pushing the truck eastbound on Front Street to a gas station on Consaul Street about 11 p.m. Thursday when the Whitten car collided with the pickup near Esther Street, police said. Both men attempted to jump out of the way before the crash.

The driver of the car was unable to drive away, so she fled on foot.

She showed up at St. Charles several hours later, was identified, and admitted she was driving the car. Police said alcohol consumption contributed to the accident.
