4 area fire departments to gain Homeland grants

Four northwest Ohio fire departments will get part of the $714,715 the state is to receive from the federal Department of Homeland Security, officials said.

The aid is part of 237 grants to fire departments and emergency medical service operations throughout the country in the fifth round of assistance for the 2005 federal fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.

The fire departments and the amounts they will receive are:

●Ballville Township Volunteer Fire Department in Sandusky County, $72,770.

●Monclova Township Fire and Rescue Department, $90,155.

●Sandusky Fire Department, $129,709.

●Ottawa Hills Fire and Rescue Department, $50,259.
