Perrysburg Township: Lights, gates OK'd at railroad crossing

9/28/2005

The township is upgrading safety measures at the railroad crossing on Hufford Road and buying a new police cruiser.

Trustees approved paying about $37,800 last week to add warning lights and gates to the crossing, which has only signs.

The state public utilities commission will pay $113,400, and CSX Transportation Corp. will pay about $16,800, township Administrator John Hrosko said.

He said the crossing, which has a lot of residential traffic, has poor visibility because it is raised and the track crosses the road at an angle.

Trustees also voted to pay $22,456 for a new Ford Crown Victoria police cruiser from Reineke Ford in Fostoria, Ohio. Police Chief Ed Stribrny said it will replace a cruiser that has more than 100,000 miles on it.
