B.G. Community Reads program starts tomorrow

BOWLING GREEN This year s Community Reads program will kick off at 7 p.m. tomorrow with a presentation by Megan Bartlett, a Bowling Green native who works as an emergency medical technician in New York City.

Ms. Bartlett, who was among those who responded to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, founded Ground Zero For Peace, a group consisting of uniformed emergency personnel dedicated to peaceful responses to terrorism.

She has spent time in Afghanistan working with rescue workers and serves as the Afghanistan Project associate for the September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.

Her presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Wood County District Public Library, 251 North Main St.

The Kite Runner, a novel by Khaled Hosseini that is set in Afghanistan, is this year s selection for Community Reads.

Group discussions of The Kite Runner are scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the library and at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Wood County Senior Center, 305 North Main St.
