BEAVERDAM, Ohio - An Ashland, Ohio, woman was hurt seriously yesterday when her car, which was southbound on I-75 near here, crossed the median, struck a northbound tractor-trailer, and went under the trailer, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Amy Risley, 35, was flown to St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio, where she was in critical condition last night.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Claude Hornois of St. Paul-d'Abbotsford, Que., did not appear injured, troopers at the patrol's Lima post said.

Ms. Risley was just south of the Beaverdam exit about 11:25 a.m. when the accident occurred, but troopers last night did not know why she crossed the median.
