4 cameras to regulate traffic light in Lima

LIMA, Ohio A state agency has installed cameras at the intersection of State Rt. 81 and Eastown Road in Lima that will regulate operation of a traffic signal there.

Four cameras, installed this month by the Ohio Department of Transportation, detect when a vehicle approaches the intersection and send a signal to a control box, which in turn triggers the traffic light to change.

Norman Redick, deputy director of ODOT District 1, said the cameras take the place of buried vehicle detectors that can mar roadway surfaces.
