BOWLING GREEN

  • The city's Human Relations Commission will present Rabbit-Proof Fence, the second feature in its diversity film series, at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Wood County District Public Library, 251 North Main St.

  • Take part in a pumpkin carving contest from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Adam Phillips Shelter at the Wood County Historical Center on County Home Road. Register at www.wcparks.org.

  • Preschoolers ages 3 to 5 1/2 and their adult companions are invited to look and listen for things that go bump in the night from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bradner Preserve at U.S. 23 and Caldwell Road east of Bradner. Register at www.wcparks.org.

  • The 15th annual Halloween Folklore and Funfest will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Wood County Historical Center. No registration is necessary.

    DEFIANCE

  • The Girl Scouts of Maumee Valley Council will host two Halloween celebrations Friday and Saturday at Camp Libbey, 28325 State Rt. 281. Camp Creepy will be from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and costs $12, and Camp Not-So Creepy for ages 6 and under runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and costs $8. Children two and under are free for both camps that are filled with 1980s activities.

    FREMONT

  • The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center will offer a class on computer-based genealogy research from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The free course introduces genealogy resources on the Internet.

  • The annual "Night Hike" will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at White Star Park barn. Mona Rutger will talk about "Back to the Wild," and there will be stargazing and an owl hunt.

    PERRYSBURG

  • Al Cave, a history professor at the University of Toledo, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fort Meigs Visitor Center. He will talk about "Andrew Jackson and His Indian Allies" as part of a military history roundtable meeting.

    PORT CLINTON

  • The Greater Toledo Chapter of the American Red Cross' Ottawa County district office will provide a first aid class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Magruder Hospital conference floor, 615 Fulton St.

    TOLEDO

  • Attorney Eddie M. Cole will provide free legal advice at Warren AME Church, 915 Collingwood Blvd., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow as part of the Law Tuesday Program through the Toledo Bar Association and Pro Bono Program.

  • Comedian and performance artist Dan Kamin will share his craft and perform Wednesday in the Millennium Theatre of Maumee Valley Country Day School. From 9:15 to 10 a.m., he will share his expertise with students in an Upper School American Film Studies class, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., he will perform "Pantomine Man" for students in kindergarten through 8th grade.

  • Owens Community College will host Fall Job Fair 2005 from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Student Health and Activities Center on the college's Toledo-area campus on Oregon Road.

  • The Toledo Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its annual used book sale Saturday and Sunday at Westgate Shopping Center. Books will be on sale from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, which is a $10 bag day. A pre-sale preview will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday for $10.

  • The Main Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 325 North Michigan St., will host "Building the Literature Habit" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Sky Bank Meeting Room. The program will focus on using children's literature in classroom curriculum. Registration is required by calling the library. Cost is $15.
