COLUMBUS An Ohio State University student from Sylvania was hurt seriously Thursday when a car struck her while she was crossing a Columbus intersection on her bicycle, police said.

Nichole Meifert, 21, was in critical condition yesterday in the Ohio State University Medical Center, where she was taken after the collision, which occurred about 8 p.m.

Ms. Meifert was bicycling across Lane Avenue at Tuttle Park when she was hit in a crosswalk by a vehicle driven by Joshua DiBari, 17, of Columbus, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the walk light in the crosswalk was not activated at the time of the crash, police said. No charges had been filed yesterday.
