Bowling Green plans meeting over parking lot plan

10/19/2005

BOWLING GREEN City council plans to hold a public hearing in December on a controversial request to rezone three lots on North Church Street where the Wood County District Public Library plans to build a parking lot.

Council heard the first reading of the rezoning request Monday night, and said it would take public comment on the matter at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 5.

On a 6-0 vote, the city planning commission earlier this month recommended council reject the rezoning request because it was not consistent with the city s master plan.

Property owners Robert Maurer and the library would like the property rezoned from residential to institutional, but some residents have objected to the way the hill, trees, and old house that once sat on the property were destroyed before plans for the parking lot were made public.
