Oregon residents views are sought on land plan

Oregon officials working to update the city s comprehensive master plan have scheduled a community forum next week to garner more resident input.

The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Oregon Municipal Complex, 5330 Seaman Rd.

The more input we have from our residents, the better the comprehensive master plan will be, said Matt Szollosi, chairman of the city s economic development and planning committee. We re really going to try to use this opportunity to gather additional input and new perspectives on the direction with which we re going.

Residents also will be given the opportunity to sit on one of four subcommittees, guided by residents who sit on the planning committee, related to the master plan: planning and development, community design and image, recreation and Lake Erie access, and quality of life.

The planning committee, which has a core group of about 15 residents and city officials, has been meeting monthly since March, 2003, to dissect the 1995 master plan the update to the 1965 plan and to talk about where they want to see Oregon in the future.

The committee is still on track to complete the master plan update in mid-2006.
