Wauseon: Appointment made to planning commission

10/19/2005

Fulton Lumber Co. owner Doug Vollmer was appointed to the Wauseon Planning Commission on Monday, replacing Ed Hecock, and city council is expected to consider another mayoral nomination to the planning commission this fall to replace Rick Stidham.

Mr. Hecock, a factory owner, resigned from the seven-member commission effective Oct. 15 because he changed his residency to Florida.

Mr. Stidham, a manager at Carter Lumber in Defiance, said he will resign effective Nov. 1 because he is moving out of the city limits.

Council voted 5-0 to approve Mayor Jerry Dehnbostel's nomination of Mr. Vollmer to fill Mr. Hecock's term, which extends through the end of 2008. Councilman Kathy Huner was absent.

Mr. Stidham's term extends through 2010.

Mr. Hecock also resigned effective Oct. 15 from the city's five-member Charter Review Commission. Mayor Dehnbostel said he expects to present a nomination to council in November. That term expires in mid 2008.
