BLUFFTON

  • Hugo Sandburg, product marketing manager for the Flood Co. in Hudson, Ohio, will speak at Bluffton University's annual presidential leadership forum at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Yoder Recital Hall. His presentation, "The Truth Shall Set You Free: Applying Bluffton's Motto in Everyday Life," is free and open to the public.

  • Mike Edmiston, who does instrumentation research at Bluffton University, will speak at 4 p.m. Friday on "Adventures in Microprocessors" in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. The Friday colloquium is free and open to the public.

  • The Bluffton University chapter of Habitat for Humanity will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Elm and Spring streets. The dinner is free, but donations will be accepted.

    BOWLING GREEN

  • Volunteers are needed to help with the Wood County Park District's native plant project from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Agricultural Incubator on State Rt. 582 west of State Rt. 25. Dress to work outdoors. Register at www.wcparks.org.

  • Special Olympics of Wood County will host its eighth annual prime rib and crab fest from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Pemberville Legion Hall. Tickets, which include dinner, are $35. Proceeds support the 350 youths and adults who participate in the Wood County Special Olympics.

    FINDLAY

  • The Mazza Museum's holiday gift gallery is open beginning today through Nov. 13 in the University of Findlay's Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion. More than 500 children's books, toys, and book-related accessories are on sale. The gift gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Friday; 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 7-11, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12-13.

  • John A. Powell, executive director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University, will present "Diversity: Human Destinies Are Intertwined," at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University of Findlay's Alumni Memorial Union. The event, part of the university's Diversity Week, is free and open to the public.

  • Tony Melendez, a toe-picking guitar player, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the University of Findlay's Koehler Recreation Complex. Born without arms, Mr. Melendez learned early in life that he could use his toes to manipulate objects. Tickets are $5.

    FREMONT

  • The Sandusky County Park District will hold two events this week, with required registration. The history of river otters and their return from extirpation in Ohio will be the topic of an event set for 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at the park office. At sunset Saturday, there will be stargazing at Wolf Creek Park's campground, south of Fremont on State Rt. 53, where telescopes will be set up by Sandusky Valley Amateur Astronomers.

    NAPOLEON

  • A three-mile walk for hunger with an alternative one-mile route will start at 2 p.m. Sunday from St. Paul's Church, 1075 Glenwood Ave., where canned nonperishable food items will be collected.

    OREGON

  • "On the Move: 2007-2035 Transportation Plan" being developed by the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments will be the topic of a public meeting set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Oregon branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public library, 3340 Dustin Rd. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

    PEMBERVILLE

  • An "On the Move" meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Pemberville branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public library, 375 East Front St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

    SANDUSKY

  • "Rusty Rocket's Last Blast," a free children's program about the planets, comets, and asteroids in the solar system, will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sidney Frohman Planetarium behind Sandusky High School. Enter the parking lot from West Perkins Avenue near Hayes Avenue.

    TOLEDO

  • Fritz Wenzel, a political consultant, will speak at the Rotary Club of Toledo's weekly meeting at noon today at Zenobia Shrine, 1511 Madison Ave.

  • Bradley Smith, a Capital University Law School professor who authored Unfree Speech: The Folly of Campaign Finance Reform, will speak at noon tomorrow in the College of Law Auditorium on the University of Toledo main campus. His topic is "Active Liberty, Political Debate, and the Constitution as a Governing Document."

  • Two "On the Move" meetings are scheduled by the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments in Toledo this week. One is set for 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Birmingham branch of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 203 Paine Ave., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The other will begin at noon Friday at the main library, 325 North Michigan St., with doors opening at 11:30 a.m.

  • A college resource night will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library main location, 325 North Michigan St.
