Recently released inspection reports of Lucas County food-service operations:

Jewell's Snack Bar, 5133 Telegraph, inspected Sept. 27. Critical violation: Observed raw shell eggs stored above ready-to-eat (RTE) sauces. Store all raw animal products below all other foods to prevent cross contamination. Five noncritical violations. Inspector: Kerry Cutcher.

Ottawa River School, 4801 290th, inspected Sept. 28. Cold hold unit must maintain potentially hazardous food (PHF) at 41 degrees or below. Replace or repair unit. Three noncritical violations. Inspector: Gottschalk.

The Vineyard, 3301 West Central, inspected Sept. 28. Critical violation: All refrigerated RTE, PHF must be date marked. Three noncritical violations. Inspector: Sattler.

Milo's Food Market, 4508 Lewis, inspected Sept. 28. Critical violations: Observed raw animal products stored above precooked items in display freezer in rear of store. All raw animal products must be stored below all other foods to prevent contamination. Observed food prep room in basement with exposed crawl space, unsealed floor, compressor blowing airborne contaminants and dual use as break room. To use this room as a food prep or storage area the following must be completed: Seal bare floor, seal off crawl space with a smooth and easy-to-clean surface, remove all personal and storage items, and separate compressor area with a wall. Observed prepared PHF packaged at facility (dill dip, BBQ beef, etc.) with sell by dates of Oct. 18. After PHF product is prepared and packaged food may only be held for only seven days at 41 degrees or less four days at 43 to 45 degrees. Day of preparation counts for day one. Observed thawing of beef trimmings at room temperature. Acceptable methods for thawing are: under refrigeration, completely submerged under cold running water in a two-inch air gapped prep sink, or as part of cooking process. Three noncritical violations. Inspector: Cutcher.

Club Liberty, 812 Matzinger, inspected Sept. 28. Critical violation: Observed canned beer in ice used for consumption. Ice is considered food and must be protected from contamination. Do not use ice used for consumption as storage. Five noncritical violations. Inspector: Cutcher.

Flurries, 3370 Lagrange, inspected Sept. 28. Critical violations: Observed box of fries stored on floor of walk-in freezer. Store all food and food contact items at least six inches above the floor to prevent contamination. Observed various PHF without date mark. Observed chemical bottle stored on dry goods storage rack. Chemicals must be stored below or away from all food or food contact items. Four noncritical violations. Inspector: Cutcher.

Storyville Grille, 5201 Monroe, inspected Sept. 29. Critical violation: Found no date marking on PHF. Four noncritical violations. Inspector: Sattler.

Zia's, 20 Main, inspected Sept. 29. Critical violations: Observed raw fish stored above pasta and mushrooms in two-door cooler. The bar/pizza handsink is leaking and cold water does not work. Area must have a proper working handsink. Either repair handsink or use one compartment of the three-compartment sink as handsink and take all barware to kitchen for washing. Eight noncritical violations. Inspector: Jennifer Gottschalk.

Riverview Yacht Club, 5981 Edgewater, inspected Sept. 30. No date label on hot dogs and hot dog sauce in freezer. Observed box of raw bacon and raw sausage above box of hash browns and other prepared food. Store raw food below cooled and RTE food. Observed two cabinets full of chemicals stored above cases of soft drinks. All chemicals must be stored below food and food contact items. Six noncritical violations. Inspector: Gottschalk.

Family Dollar Store, 557 East Manhattan, inspected Sept. 26. Observed boxes of candy on floor of display. All food and food contract items must be stored at least six inches off the floor. Two noncritical violations. Inspector: Cutcher.

Sunoco, 6825 Finzel, Waterville, inspected Sept. 27. Critical violations: No ingredient book available for donut case. An ingredient book, poster, etc. must be available at all times for each type of donut that is sold. If a new item is added, item must be added to book. Hot dogs at 125 degrees. All PHF must hold at 135 degrees or higher. Establishment bags its own small bags of ice. Bagged ice labeling requirements include: Statement of ingredients, statement of responsibility, the name and the place of business of the manufacturer must appear conspicuously on the label.
