BOWLING GREEN The Wood County Committee on Aging plans to break ground this spring on a 5,900-square-foot kitchen on East Gypsy Lane Road.

Denise Niese, executive director, told Wood County commissioners yesterday that the agency has hired Duket Porter Associates, a Toledo architectural firm, to do the design work for the building, which is expected to cost about $900,000.

It is being paid for with $500,000 in state money, $200,000 in donations, and $200,000 from the agency s endowment, Ms. Niese said.

The kitchen will give the Committee on Aging a much larger space to prepare home-delivered meals and lunches served at its senior centers in the county. Currently, it prepares between 700 and 750 meals a day at a tiny kitchen at the downtown senior center.
