HILLSDALE A special allocation included in the federal transportation bill would provide $500,000 for a new building to centralize the operations of Hillsdale County s Dial-A-Ride bus service, which has operated for 30 years from makeshift headquarters across the area.

Hillsdale City Manager Tim Vagle said the city has been trying for a decade to win federal funding to pay for a centralized building to house offices, a waiting area, and a bus garage for the operation s five buses.

The Dial-A-Ride program serves primarily school-aged children and seniors in the area.

The federal transportation bill is in a conference committee in Congress.
