Huron schools, teachers reach tentative accord

HURON, Ohio A strike set for yesterday was averted after negotiators for Huron City Schools and the district s teachers reached a tentative contract agreement.

John Harkelroad, a spokesman for the Huron Education Association, said the two sides met with a federal mediator from 5 p.m. Thursday until 1 a.m. yesterday, when they emerged with the tentative agreement. He said the district s 91 teachers likely will vote on it next week.

Superintendent Fred Fox could not be reached for comment.

Mr. Harkelroad said no details of the agreement were being released until after the vote.
