Owens women fall to Cincinnati State

Owens Community College dug itself a big hole early and never quite recovered, losing 91-82 to visiting Cincinnati State in a women's basketball game.

Cincinnati State, which had a big size advantage, pounded the ball inside early and took a 10-0 lead.

By the time Owens made its first field goal, the Express trailed 19-6. They trailed by as much as 20 in the second half, but got as close as seven in the final minutes.

Bridget Buss scored 25 points to lead five Owens players in double figures for Owens (8-10, 0-1 OCCAC). Sarah Moore had 14, Tia Simms and Tashe Jacobs 11 and Ashley Williams 10.

Cincinnati State is 10-3 and 1-0.

Owens plays Wednesday at Lakeland CC in Kirtland, Ohio.
