Northwood, Rossford win awards for financial excellence

1/25/2006

Ohio Auditor of State Betty Montgomery recognized two east suburban cities last week for maintaining financial accountability in 2003.

Ms. Montgomery presented Northwood and Rossford officials with the auditor's award for excellent financial accountability for their 2003 annual financial reports.

Less than 5 percent of the more than 5,000 entities audited by Ms. Montgomery's office qualify for this award.

To qualify, entities must participate in a federal program through the Government Finance Officers Association that recognizes and encourages excellence for financial reporting, said Jaclyn Reynolds, public information officer.

In addition, each entitie's recent audits have to be problem free, with no findings for recovery or other financial concerns that might jeopardize the entitie's eligibility.
