New set for Glass training

2/8/2006

The April 2nd Glass City Marathon is 52 days away and I begin an eight-week training set for my half-marathon. The schedule is fairly light, with weekend runs that step up one mile at a time to a 10-miler in Week 7. Two rest days a week is different for me. However, I have learned in two other marathon training experiences that maximum mileage and two-a-days do not guarantee the best condition at the end. I am always torn by the cross-training days. A two-hour session of hockey with the potential of taking a puck on the foot in Week 7 is always a risk. But it s one day at a time beginning with today s 3-mile EZ.

Run with this

"If one can stick to the training throughout the many long years, then will power is no longer a problem. It's raining? That doesn't matter. I am tired? That's besides the point. It's simply that I just have to."
