They are:

●Education: Christa Adams, president of Owens Community College.

●Government: Mary Ann Whipple, U.S. bankruptcy judge for Ohio's northern district.

"Each year, the YWCA has the privilege of honoring amazing women," said Lisa McDuffie, chief executive officer of the YWCA of Greater Toledo. "These seven women are examples of what women can achieve."

This year's recipients will be feted at an awards luncheon March 16 at SeaGate Centre. The event also is used to raise funds for YWCA social service programs, with proceeds benefitting more than 20,000 women and families.

About 67 women in northwest Ohio have received Milestone Awards since the program was established in 1996.

The Young Women's Christian Association is the oldest and largest women's membership organization in the United States, representing more than 2 million women, girls, and their families.
