8 N.W. Ohio law agencies receive federal grants

COLUMBUS Federal grants totaling more than $600,000 have been awarded to 43 law enforcement and criminal justice programs across the state, including eight in northwest Ohio, officials with the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services have announced.

The federal Justice Assistance Grants for Law Enforcement are awarded to departments to hire and train officers and support staff; pay overtime, and buy computer technology and equipment.

The recipients include in Fulton County, the Delta Police Department, $13,908, and the Wauseon Police Department, $11,800; in Hancock County, the county sheriff s office, $14,235; in Huron County, the New London Police Department, $15,386, and the Willard Police Department, $20,000; in Lucas County, the Sylvania Township Police Department, $8,054, and in Wood County, the Northwood Police Department, $3,000, and the county sheriff s office, $13,320.
