LIMA, Ohio - A Toledo firm is the apparent low bidder for a state contract to expand U.S. 24 on the northwest side of Defiance to a four-lane highway.

E.S. Wagner's bid of $36.7 million is expected to be approved within 10 days, once bid documents have been reviewed and approved, the Ohio Department of Transportation district office in Lima said.

The 3.7-mile project between State Rts. 424 and 15 is the first stage of a longer-term program to create a four-lane U.S. 24 all the way from Toledo to Fort Wayne, Ind.
