This years's Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo summer camp Big Silver will be one of 26 camps in 22 states that will host the National Military Family Association's "Operation Purple Summer Camp."

The program, which is free, is designed to provide a summer camp experience for children who have military parents, especially those who are or will be deployed to the Middle East.

The program is sponsored by the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

"We're honored to be among the camps chosen to host Operation Purple this year and provide a fun and unique camping experience for these youth," said Dave Wehrmeister, executive director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo.

The clubs annual camp is a co-ed, 12 cabin residential camp located on Silver Lake in Pinckney, Mich., about 75 miles north of Toledo.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo is dedicated to promoting leadership, character, health, and career development while emphasizing social, cultural, and educational growth.
