Safety experts offering free boat checks

Marine safety experts will offer free safety inspections at a dozen boat ramps in northwest Ohio.

The inspections will be conducted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the U.S. Power Squadrons as a way to increase boating-safety awareness.

The dates, the locations, and the times for the boat inspections are:

Today, Sandusky city ramp, Lake Erie, 8-10 a.m.

May 12-14, Mazurik boat ramp, eight miles east of Port Clinton, at Marblehead, 8-10 a.m.

May 20, Venetian Marina, Sandusky, 9 a.m.-noon.

May 20-21, Sandusky city ramp, 8-10 a.m.

May 21, Lake Loramie, campground ramp, 9-11 a.m.

May 21, Grand Lake St. Marys east bank ramp, 9-11 a.m.

May 21, Anchor Pointe Marina, Oregon, 1-4 p.m.

May 21, Cullen Park ramp, Toledo, 1-4 p.m.

May 21, Mary Jane Thurston State Park, 1-3 p.m.

May 21, Napoleon city ramp, 3:30-5:30 p.m.

May 24, Maple Street ramp, Perrysburg, 5-7 p.m.
