Human services agency gets leader

Deborah Ortiz, assistant director of Lucas County Job and Family Services since 2002, was hired as the agency's executive director yesterday.

Ms. Ortiz has been with the agency for seven years, first hired as director of casework services in 1999. She will be paid an annual salary of $100,000.

Prior to her work at Job and Family Services, Ms. Ortiz spent 10 years in a variety of positions at the University of Toledo. She received a bachelor of arts in social work and a master's in public administration from UT.

Ms. Ortiz has served as the agency's acting executive director since the retirement of Isaac Palmer earlier this year.
