Southbound Detroit Avenue to be shut 3 days

5/10/2006

Southbound Detroit Avenue will be closed at Dorr Street for three days, beginning today at 6 a.m., as reconstruction of the Dorr-Detroit intersection continues, the city transportation division said yesterday.

During the closing, all southbound traffic on Detroit will be forced to turn right onto westbound Dorr. A posted detour will direct motorists to Westwood and Hill avenues and Fearing Boulevard, then back to Detroit Avenue. Local motorists should plan alternate routes in advance to avoid this circuitous routing.

Detroit is scheduled to reopen Friday evening. Congestion is likely on both Dorr and Detroit.
