State hires firm to redo bridge

5/13/2006

An Akron-area firm has received a $2 million Ohio Department of Transportation contract to rehabilitate the State Rt. 25 bridge over I-475/U.S. 23 in Perrysburg.

Construction may start as early as June 12 and will include closing the busy bridge for up to 60 days during repairs. The closing is to be scheduled so that it does not occur when schools are in session. All work must be completed by Sept. 15, ODOT said.

The $2,003,521.93 bid from the Velotta Co., of Sharon Center, Ohio, was the lowest of three bids the state received for the work, and was slightly lower than a state engineer's cost estimate for the work.
