A 50-carat emerald valued at $3 million will be on view for three days at Harold Jaffe Jewelers, 4211 Talmadge Rd.

The gem is part of a $4.5 million collection of emerald jewelry and loose stones in the show and sale, which will be at the store Thursday through Saturday. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Jeff Jaffe, president of Harold Jaffe Jewelers, said all the items in the traveling exhibit are for sale except the 50-carat gem, which was cut from a 458-carat emerald crystal from Colombia's Chivor Mine in 2001.

The national tour sponsor, Eternity Natural Emeralds, is conducting a "Name the Emerald Contest" for the huge gem that will include a local prize.
