Maumee State Forest presents ash borer demo

5/22/2006

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of forestry has opened a forest management demonstration area at Maumee State Forest to deter the threat of the invasive emerald ash borer in northwest Ohio.

The demonstration area, known as the Stewardship Trail, is a self-guided walking tour, which presents examples of forest management techniques.

Emerald ash borer was found at Maumee State Forest, which is located in Fulton, Henry, and Lucas counties, in 2004. The new trail at the forest displays two areas where harvests have occurred that are designed to slow the spread of the insect.
