Waterville holds off on razing fire station

5/23/2006

Waterville Village Council agreed last night to not raze the old fire station in Conrad Park before giving organizations a chance to lease the building.

Interested groups should contact the village by July 1. They would be required to pay for utilities and maintenance.

Boy Scout Troop 101, which has met at the station for several years, has plans for its renovation, but most councilmen thought it would be fair to give other groups the same chance. Councilman Pauline Glaza cast the sole vote against setting the deadline, saying she preferred to have a community forum to talk about ideas for the station.
