Report of bomb shuts Port Clinton boat service

6/4/2006

PORT CLINTON Service on the Jet Express was interrupted for several hours yesterday after a man called and said a bomb was on board.

Authorities returned ferries to the dock and unloaded passengers, Port Clinton police said.

The Jet Express carries people between Port Clinton and South Bass Island, among other destinations. Representatives from area departments and agencies, including the FBI and U.S. Coast Guard, used an explosives-sniffing dog to search several vessels, passengers, and luggage. No bomb was found. The ferries were back in service by 11:15 a.m. Police said they have no suspects.
