Truck driver hurt in 1-vehicle crash

6/27/2006

A man was seriously hurt yesterday when his tow truck hit two boulders, a utility pole, two parked vehicles, and a traffic sign at Stickney Avenue and Matzinger Road, authorities said.

Larry Crapsey was in critical condition in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. A medical condition may have been a factor in the accident, police said.

He was driving south on Matzinger about 9:10 a.m. when he ran a red light and crossed Stickney. The tow truck jumped a curb, hit two landscape boulders, went airborne, and hit the utility pole, pulling the wires across Matzinger, police said.

The truck then hit an unoccupied car and an SUV parked in a gas station parking lot, police said.
