WOODVILLE - An interim superintendent familiar with Woodmore Local Schools will be running the district until the school board decides on a permanent replacement.
Woodville resident Jane Garling, 64, began working this week with Superintendent Mike Eaglowski, whose last day at the district is Tuesday.
Mr. Eaglowski was chosen in June to lead the Mad River Local School District in Riverside, Ohio, and is expected to start his new job on Aug. 1.
He said yesterday that he accepted the job because he and his family wanted to move back to the Dayton area.
The school board accepted his resignation last week at the same special meeting where they hired Mrs. Garling after a 10-minute, closed-door executive session.
Mrs. Garling will be paid $325 a day on an as-needed basis. She recently retired as superintendent for Bettsville Local Schools. Before that, she spent 17 years at Woodmore as a teacher, high school principal and athletic director, and elementary school principal.
Mr. Eaglowski has been Woodmore's superintendent for three years. In the seven years before that, he had been the superintendent for the New Riegel, Arcadia, and Lakota school districts.
