Perrysburg Township asks to buy land

7/18/2006

Perrysburg Township officials last night asked members of the Rossford Board of Education to consider selling land to the township so it can expand its administration building.

Township trustees rescheduled last night's semimonthly meeting to 7:30 p.m. tonight so Trustees Bob Mack and Gary Britten could attend the school board meeting along with other township officials.

While there, they asked to buy a 150-foot strip of land next to the administration building for fair market value. The land is south of the building off Lime City Road.

Township officials want the land because they need more office space and room for the fire department at the administration building.

School board members were receptive to the idea and asked to sit down with the trustees soon to discuss a possible sale.

In other action, the school board approved two-year contracts with administrative employees and exempt administrative employees that will take effect on their hire dates.

The 10 administrative employees, including the school building principals, the transportation director, and the buildings and grounds supervisor, will receive a 3 percent pay raise the first year and 2 percent raise the second year.

In addition, in the first year of the contract, employees with at least 10 years of experience in education will receive an additional 3 percent raise, those with 15 years will receive 2 percent, and those with 20 years will receive 1 percent. Employees with more than 25 years of experience will not be given an additional raise.

At least six exempt administrative employees, including the superintendent's secretary, the assistant treasurer, and the payroll clerk, will receive a 3 percent increase each year of the contract.
