Seneca County hires 3rd dog warden in 06

7/19/2006

TIFFIN Seneca County has hired its third dog warden since Jan. 1, promoting its deputy dog warden, Matthew Snook, to lead the agency.

Mr. Snook had been an auxiliary police officer in Republic, Ohio, and a reserve Seneca County sheriff s deputy. The commissioners said they will not name a deputy warden to replace Mr. Snook.

The commissioners fired Lonnie Jaynes in March and accepted the resignation of assistant warden William O Conner. They were accused of having a pit bull euthanized and falsely telling the dog s owner before and afterward that the animal wasn t at the pound.

Matthew Crouch, who was accused of neglect of duty, insubordination, changing a receipt book to make it balance, and other misdeeds, resigned last month just before the commissioners were about to fire him.
