Hancock County plans to reinstate jail contract

7/20/2006

FINDLAY Hancock County commissioners today are expected to reinstate an agreement with Putnam County to house some local inmates at the jail in Ottawa.

Lt. Ryan Kidwell, jail administrator, told the commissioners Tuesday the jail s population has exceeded 120 on several occasions recently, well above its capacity of 98.

Hancock County had a contract with Putnam County to house its overflow prisoners for $45 a day but did not renew the agreement after county voters defeated a 0.25 percent sales tax increase for criminal justice.
