Bellevue OKs contract for health services

7/26/2006

BELLEVUE, Ohio Bellevue City Council approved a contract Monday with Huron County to provide health services to city residents.

The contract is valued at $84,000 a year but will be prorated for the remainder of the year. Bellevue Safety-Service Director Jeff Crosby said the contract must be approved by the Ohio Department of Health before it goes into effect.

The city had warned that operating its own health department would lead to a $453,000 deficit over the next three years.

Mayor David Kile, who cited cost savings in the move, said residents won t see a difference in service and that the Bellevue location will be used by Huron County health officials.
