7/26/2006

The winner of the $24 million Mega Millions jackpot came forward yesterday to claim the prize in trust nearly a month after hitting the jackpot.

Trust Officer Michael T. McGrail completed the claim on behalf of The Sky Blind Trust at the Ohio Lottery s Cleveland headquarters.

The winning ticket, which was drawn June 27, was sold at Miller s New Market, 22361 Holt Harrigan Rd., just west of State Rt. 51 in Genoa. For selling the ticket, the grocery store received a check for $23,000 late last month.

The winner chose the cash-option prize valued at $13.8 million. After federal and state withholdings, the trust will receive a check for $9.5 million.

The winner used the auto lotto feature when buying the ticket. The winning numbers were 2, 14, 20, 29, and 44. The Mega Ball number was 32.
