Lucas County touts job successes of The Source

7/28/2006

Two years after The Source opened its doors to job seekers and employers, Lucas County officials boasted that the employment center was the best in the state.

The Source helped place 2,819 people in jobs in the last 12 months, upping the total number of job placements since the center opened to 4,891, officials announced yesterday.

But it is the more than 2,800 people helped between June, 2005, and July, 2006, that gave the county something to celebrate. According to figures compiled by the state, Lucas County placed more people through its one-stop employment center than any other county in the state.

This is a case of promises made and promises kept, county Commissioner Pete Gerken said.
