Dozens hold vigil against Mideast fighting

7/30/2006

Dozens of people held a two-hour silent vigil yesterday afternoon in West Toledo against war and violence.

The purpose was to mourn the casualties of the bombings in Lebanon and Palestine and express hope for peace, according to the event's organizers, Broken Cedars, Broken Hearts, a Toledo group formed several days ago.

The protesters, who stayed on sidewalks, were dressed in black as a sign of mourning or white as a sign of hope.
