FINDLAY

Owens Community College's Findlay campus on Bright Road will be open extra hours this week for Rapid Registration Week - 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 21.

Night Jazz will perform as part of the Riverside Summer Concert Series at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Allen P. Dudley Memorial Band Shell and Dick Daugherty Plaza at Riverside Park. The concert is free.

Boys and girls ages 8-12 should register by Thursday with the Hancock Park District for a Young Explorers canoeing trip from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday along the Blanchard River. Register by Friday with the Hancock Park District for a two-day basic hand-sewing workshop with Sherry Pees, a local historical consultant. The workshop, which costs $10, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Litzenberg Memorial Woods on U.S. 224 west of Findlay.

The Maumee Valley Seaway Commanders Chorus will perform on Wednesday at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center. The concert will begin with a free ice cream social at 6:45 p.m. Music will start at 7 p.m. and continue for about an hour.

A five-hour Erie County prairie tour will start at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Cedar Point Center parking lot at the Bowling Green State University's Firelands campus.

The 49th annual Arts in the Park will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lakeview Park on Perry Street. The free show will feature 150 artists who will demonstrate their work and offer their art for sale.

The "Viva Italia" Italian Festival will run from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Sandusky Bay Pavilion, 605 East Water St.

TIFFIN

The Mercy Hospital of Tiffin Auxiliary will host a back-to-school program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade accompanied by a parent or guardian. The event takes place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mercy Community Service Center, 539 West Market St.

Al Compaan, chairman of the University of Toledo physics and astronomy department, will be the guest speaker when the Rotary Club of Toledo meets at noon today at Zenobia Shrine, 1511 Madison Ave. His topic is "Solar Electricity: Clean Power for the 21st Century - with a Toledo Cluster Leading the Way."

George M. Taoka, a University of Toledo professor emeritus of international business, will talk about "Thousands Evicted from Homes in World War II" during the American Legion Toledo Post 335 luncheon regularly scheduled for noon Friday at the Toledo Club, Madison Avenue and 14th Street.

The Ohio University Alumni Association and the Toledo/Northwest Ohio Chapter Network invites area Bobcats to its Family Night at the Mud Hens. The event begins at 7 p.m. Friday at Fifth Third Field. Cost is $8, which is for game ticket only.

WAUSEON

The annual Air Tour by the Fulton Soil and Water Conservation District will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with flights starting from the Fulton County Airport. For $15, a person can fly over their home or farm or other areas of interest. A crop duster and an Life Flight helicopter will be on display and a model airplane club will have demonstrations and displays.
